The 5 items every man needs in their wardrobe this spring.

When Spring hits we’re usually ready for blue skies, heat and air conditioning. However a lot of the time that’s not what we get, and instead we’re treated to grey skies, rain and chilly winds. It’s important to have a wardrobe that allows you to layer up so that when a cold spell hits, you’re ready for it.

  1. Statement Blazer

Check blazers are everywhere this season. Tartan, tweed, Prince-of-Wales, glen plaid, window-pane, gun-check; from the subtle to the bold, checks are a thing. The season’s runways were awash with fashionable check patterns of alliterations. But that’s not why I am telling you to embrace pattern in your wardrobe. For all its timelessness, a check blazer is a point of difference, a break from the norm and could be just what you need to spice up both your formal and casual dress this Spring.

2. Light coloured trousers / chinos

Bright colour trousers aren’t a thing for many guys. If you are not sure, I’d recommend you go lighter, not brighter. You don’t need to wear canary yellow or leprechaun green in Spring to look colourful. A shade or two lighter in your neutrals can do wonders for your Spring colour palette. Switch from dark indigo to a washed blue, or a dark grey to a lighter grey for an instant colour hack.

3. Lightweight Accessories

When looking to accessories in Spring, start looking at lightweight materials. Silks, linens and breathable cotton are all perfect for the Spring/Summer season.  Me My Suit & Tie has some great light colours and materials coming out over the next few months to compliment the seasonal changes.

4. BROWN MONKSTAPS

One of the more popular shoes in menswear today is the double monk strap shoe. This is for good reason, the versatility of the double monk strap is second to none. It can be worn in multiple environments and in various settings. You will look equally sharp wearing them (with the right combination of course) in an important business meeting or a night out with your lady.

5. Layering Knits

The difficult thing about Spring (especially in the UK) is the ever-changing weather! One of the most effective and stylish ways to combat this issue is to layer up your outfit.  A light coloured cardigan gives a summer feel while adding warmth on chillier days. Opt for a thinner/lighter material so it can be worn under your leather biker jacket, denim trucker, or, yes, even your go-to suit.
